The 4-H & Youth Development department at New Mexico State University is seeking to fill an Extension
Department Head position. This is a full time, 12 month, tenured position at the rank of Professor with an
administrative appointment. This position will provide visionary administrative leadership and support for
the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs in 4-H youth
development in New Mexico’s 33 counties. Preferred: 6 years of experience in Extension 4-H youth
development or closely related field; experience in administrative leadership and supervision of
personnel; demonstrated excellence in youth education, volunteer management, innovative delivery
methods and use of technology; academic degrees in education, youth development or closely related
field. Position requires the ability to travel year-round. Extension faculty is hired into the organization not
into a specific geographical location. It is possible that future circumstances may require relocation.
Ph.D or EdD Degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources, Family Consumer Sciences, Education, Youth
Development or closely related field from an accredited university is required.
