North Carolina State University – Associate Dean and Director, NC State Extension (and potential role as Vice Provost for Outreach and Engagement)

At NC State, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) embodies the land-grant mission through an integrated focus on education, research, and outreach. With 12 departments and numerous institutes and initiatives, CALS drives innovation and discovery to meet society’s most pressing challenges. Through the Office of Academic Programs, we prepare tomorrow’s workforce to lead in agriculture and life sciences. The North Carolina Agricultural Research Service advances knowledge through cutting-edge research, and NC State Extension translates this knowledge into real-world solutions that serve communities across North Carolina and beyond.

By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, CALS builds resilience in food systems, agriculture, health, energy, and environmental stewardship, shaping a better future for North Carolina, our nation, and the world.

The Associate Dean and Director of NC State Extension provides strategic leadership for all aspects of the university’s Extension portfolio and reports directly to the Dean of CALS. As a key member of the Dean’s administrative team, the Associate Dean of Extension works alongside the Senior Associate Dean of Administration, the Associate Dean of Academic Programs, and the Associate Dean and Director of the North Carolina Agricultural Research Service.

In this role, the Associate Dean and Director leads NC State Extension at the state, regional, national, and international levels. NC State Extension encompasses faculty and staff from CALS, the College of Design, the College of Natural Resources, and the College of Veterinary Medicine. The position collaborates closely with the deans, directors, and heads of 12 academic departments to deliver research-driven solutions, educational programs, and training that improve the quality of life, economic prosperity, and environmental health of all North Carolina communities.
