The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Iowa State University seeks a Professor and Associate Dean for Global Engagement to lead the Office for Global Engagement. The successful candidate must be a visionary leader with demonstrated capacity to lead international teaching, research, Extension/outreach and service programs in collaboration with campus leaders from across all disciplines in the college. The Associate Dean will have responsibility for oversight of the areas within the Office for Global Engagement including, but not limited to, international research and development activities, study abroad and domestic travel programs, and institutional agreements and programs. The successful candidate will support and engage with faculty on new and innovative projects with globally engaged partners from academia, industry and government. The Associate Dean will be part of the leadership for the Center for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods with programs in Uganda; the Fork in the Road Station and programs in St John, USVI; Study USA programs in collaboration with the Office for Academic Innovation, and key linkages to the college-wide academic program, Global Resource Systems. As part of the Dean’s leadership team, the Associate Dean will engage frequently with academic department chairs and faculty, and the college offices for Research and Discovery, Facilities and Operations, Extension and Outreach, Personnel and Finance, and Academic Innovation.
The Associate Dean will be expected to advance and promote a culture of academic excellence, access and service. The Global Programs work relates to undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff, external funding, high-impact/value-added activities, and pursuit of research and engagement in the global context. The successful candidate will enable the college to continue to achieve and further develop its global engagement and bring a deep commitment and experience in globally relevant work and experience.
